Our Story

Many years ago, two old friends from Chamberlain High School (Joey Larson c/o 87 and Doug Joseph c/o 88) hatched a plan to help out an old friend who was fundraising for cancer research and medical trial patients in Maryland.

They decided to host a golf tournament and party here in Tampa – so they invited hundreds upon hundreds of Chamberlain HS alum as well many Northdale and Gaither HS alum to participate – to have a great time with old friends, play golf in an awesome scramble, participate in a great Silent Auction, and enjoy a huge dinner party to cap off the day. The event was a rousing success and the beginning of a great tradition of the CHS and GHS communities coming together once a year to raise loads of money for great causes, while enjoying an incredible day and evening of fun.

In 2016, CHS Drives, Inc. became 501 (c) (3) charitable organization ( Federal ID # 47-2068977 ) with a volunteer staff of 15 old friends, plus many more volunteers that step in to help out for the few months before each annual event.
